Between November and March, ground transport in half the country runs on different rules.
Drive times stop being predictable
A 30-minute run becomes 70 without warning. Good operators build extra time into winter bookings rather than charging you for the delay afterwards. Ask how a company handles that before you need it.
De-icing changes arrival times
An aircraft can land on schedule and reach the gate 40 minutes late. Because pickups are tracked to the actual gate arrival rather than the scheduled landing, this should cost you nothing.
Cancellations
If the airline cancels, there is no charge. We usually know before you have reached the rebooking desk, because the flight is tracked.
What to do differently
- Book an SUV rather than a sedan when snow is forecast
- Allow more time for early-morning departures than the map suggests
- Give us a mobile number, not just an email, for the day of travel
