Moving a Team: One Van or Several Cars?

August 29, 2026· 5 min read·BLVK Luxury Transportation

When a group is better served by one vehicle, when separate cars make more sense, and the luggage maths people usually get wrong.

The instinct with a group of six is to book two sedans. Often that is the wrong call.

Count the luggage first

Six people with six checked bags do not fit in two sedans. They fit in one SUV only if the third row is folded, which leaves four seats. The realistic answer is a Sprinter, and the realistic time to work that out is before the group is standing at the kerb.

Arriving together has value

For client meetings, weddings and site visits, a group that arrives in one vehicle arrives at one time. Separate cars arrive over 15 minutes and someone is always last.

When separate cars are better

  • Passengers going to different destinations afterwards
  • Executives who need to work privately on the way
  • Very tight kerbside access where a large vehicle cannot stop
  • Groups splitting across several days with different schedules

The rough guide

One to three passengers with light bags: sedan. Four to six, or anyone with checked luggage: SUV. Seven to fourteen: Sprinter. Above that, a mini coach or full coach, which also solves the luggage question outright.

The luggage maths, spelled out

A sedan takes two large checked bags in the boot, or three smaller ones. An SUV takes four with the third row up, six or seven with it folded — but folding the third row costs you two seats. A Sprinter takes fourteen passengers and their bags at the same time, which is why it is the answer far more often than people expect.

The mistake is counting people and stopping there. Count bags, then count golf clubs, ski bags, camera cases, sample kits and anything else that will not go on a lap.

Multiple vehicles need a lead

If you do send several cars, nominate one as the lead and give every chauffeur the same destination, the same entrance and the same contact. Convoys split up otherwise, and the third car ends up at the wrong door.

Ask before you book

Tell us the headcount, the bag count and what happens at the other end. We will tell you whether one vehicle or three is the sensible answer — including when the answer is fewer vehicles than you asked for.
